Share The Love

enter click page

It's that time again..... and I beg you to help me spread the word!

When I began blogging I just wanted a way to convince myself to make a record of the day-to-day doings of my sweet family. I wanted a venue for self-expression, and a place to sort out the patterns and happenings of a very average life, to find some more meaning behind the humdrum.

What I found was so much more. I found a community of amazing women who are living and sharing their own beautiful lives. I found that I was fascinated by their worlds, and by how those worlds connected to my own. I found a forum for discussion, even debate sometimes. I discovered that blogging allows one woman’s world to become larger and to reach further than ever before.

So, in the spirit of glorifying a simple, average life, and letting it shine out a little farther than it has before, I would like to announce the second annual One Woman’s World Share the Love Blog Awards!

Since February is the month of love, it seems like a good time to encourage the sharing of the blog love, and the recognition of greatness even in our small circle of less-well-known blogs.

I’ve followed some of the larger blog competitions out there, and I’ve felt sorry that some amazing women bloggers go unrecognized because their readership hasn’t grown large enough. It stands to reason that if a small blog with a small–but amazing– readership hosts awards, that some of the "little lights" out there will get a chance to shine.

Enough of the WHY, and on to the HOW!

We are low-tech here at One Woman’s World, and so we are trying to keep things simple.

There are only five requirements to nominate a blog:

1. The person nominating must be a female blogger.
2. The person nominated for the award must also be a woman. (And she must not be me.)
3. In order to make sure that we share the love with the most people possible, winners of last year's awards are not eligible for nomination. Last year's finalists and runners-up are eligible for all categories.
*4. To nominate a blog, please fill out the following questionnaire and submit it in exactly the format given below.
**5. Please do not nominate blogs that contain pornographic visual or written content.

*I found last year that I have no time to spend emailing you to get vital missing information. If you leave out the information, I will not count your nomination.

**As I do not want to be personally responsible for censoring the internet and ensuring that every blog nominated contains material that will not offend anyone, I am not stating that blogs to be nominated must contain 100% G-rated material. Therefore, some of the blogs nominated may not conform to everyone’s reading preferences. This blog competition is designed to encourage the widening of our reading world, and the fostering of community among women bloggers. If you are offended or bothered by the content of the site of one of our nominees, I’d encourage you to pass by the site, not vote for them, and move on. We’re not here to cause any scandals or offense. The competition is about sharing the love, and honoring excellence.

Awards:
*Nominees, Finalists, Winners, and Runners-up will all receive banners which they can post on their sites if they so desire.
*Winners will be decided based upon straight voting. I love you all, and don’t want any personal responsibility for making such a tough decision. (Although I reserve the right to vote once in each category.)
*In order to spread the love around, winners may only win in one category. If they win in several categories, they will be asked which award they would most like to win, and the second runner-up will then win in that category.

Happy nominating!

Heather, I don't mean to crash the party but any chance you would consider a special category for... a guy? Story: couple years ago I got unbelievably good tickets for my wife and me to Sunday show of Le Miz! For weeks I was so proud of myself -- as a male is apt to do I was bragging to a friend -- He replied, "SO you don't mind missing the Super Bowl??" Oops...anyway Le Miz was awesome and by the way I was not the only guy who missed the Super Bowl that year!!

Maria Conceicao is one amazing young woman... don't know anyone else who can hold down fulltime job flyinground the world AND run an amazingly successful project - she has
inspired everyone on her flight path to become part of the Dhaka project, and
speaking for myself, our destinies crisscross as does hundreds who meet her, get involved, and she finds time to do it all, and stay in touch.

Maria has weathered many, many storms , and as everyone admire her courage , persistency , consistency .
She is a truly champion of change .. And she did all on her own

In one sense, Maria is like the rest of us, coping with the trials of daily life of a 29 year old young women with a demanding flying job .. Yet somehow, she seem to do it so much better, taking the bad with the good -- and bearing it all with remarkable grace.
Kind and compassionate, selfless and giving, she quietly go about the business of making the Dhaka a better place. She doesn't advertise it, she doesn't push herself on others and she isn't particularly fond of the spotlight.Despite all she does, Maria consistently shies away from any credit or accolades..She is one of the most beautiful human beings on earth and I, as her friend, wish to shout it to the heavens. .With nothing she has done more than all those multidollar organizations and has touched countless lives ... she is aglow with the essence of love for humanity. .For many families, Maria is their only bright light. Their only hope to overcome poverty.Whatever their individual crisis or needs , Maria gives them the skills they need "to pull themselves out of their darkness and maximize their potential .... Maria has definitely made Dhaka a nicer and happier place to be.Moreover, Maria has done it all without asking anything in return. "Her rewards come from the good feelings she gets doing for others.
